Oakley Hall is the author of more than twenty works of fiction. Hall was for twenty years director of Programs in Writing at the University of California at Irvine. He is also director of the Squaw Valley Community of Writers. In 1998 received a PEN Center USA West Award of Honor for lifetime literary achievement; he has also been awarded the Poets and Writers 'Writers For Writers' Award. He is an inductee into the Cowboy Hall of Fame. He lives in San Francisco.
