Anne Loftis was born in New York City in 1922. She graduated from Smith College in 1944, then worked as a journalist and free-lance writer. She is the author (or co-author) of several books, including: The Great Betrayal: The Evacuation of Japanese-Americans During World War II (with Audrie Girdner), California, Where the Twain Did Meet, A Long Time Coming: The Struggle to Unionize America's Farm Workers (with Dick Meister). She is also the author of numerous articles on ethnic groups and farm labor organizing.
